There is a requirement to complete a fully paid one-week induction, with travel expenses covered. As a Cook, You Will • Take responsibility for the day-to-day catering operation during your shift. • Maintain food storage procedures and stock rotation in line with established standards and best practice. • Prepare, plan and cook meals to a consistently high standard, taking account of individual dietary requirements and special requests. • Serve food and beverages to service users, staff and visitors in a professional and courteous manner. • Prepare and produce food for events, celebrations and special occasions throughout the year. • Support effective food costing and stock management through robust cost-control procedures. • Adhere to 'Safer Food Better Business' standards and maintain accurate records. • Follow Food Hygiene Regulations and all health and safety procedures at all times. • Develop and create menus that are nutritious, high quality and aligned with healthy eating guidelines. • Complete and maintain all documentation relating to the Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) system, including fridge temperature checks, food temperature logs and cleaning schedules. • Maintain a clean, safe and efficient kitchen environment while delivering high standards of food quality and service. To Be Successful In This Role, You'll Need • A Basic Food Hygiene Certificate (essential). • An Intermediate Food Hygiene qualification (desirable). • Previous experience within a catering, healthcare or similar environment. • Experience of kitchen management. • Experience of menu planning, ordering, stock control, budgeting and food costing. • Good communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with service users, colleagues and visitors. • A caring, empathetic and customer-focused approach. • To be aged 18 or over. Where You Will Be Working Location: Lower Henley Road, Caversham, Reading, Berkshire, RG4 5LE You will be working at Rosebank House, a 24 hour specialist care and support service for people with severe and enduring mental health needs. People who come to Rosebank House have normally come from a hospital environment or have been sectioned under the Mental Health Act (1983). You will be working at the modern, purpose-built home with 13 en-suite bedrooms, it is specifically designed with facilities to fully prepare patients for independence in the community. The focus of the service is on independent living skills as well as social inclusion, education and employment engagement. There are close links with the local community for residents to access local college, work placements and amenities. Rosebank House is located in Caversham, Reading, just off Henley Road, with easy access via Sonning Bridge and Reading Bridge. The hospital is well connected, with Reading train station around 5 minutes away by car and direct rail services to London Paddington, Oxford, Bristol and Birmingham. Regular bus services run along Henley Road, and there is convenient access to the A329, A4 and M4, making commuting from Reading, Wokingham, Bracknell, Maidenhead and the surrounding areas straightforward. The site is also within easy reach of Reading town centre and local amenities.
