Cakesmiths, the UK's leading baker of innovative and award-winning traybakes and cake, is looking for a Financial Accountant to join our growing Bristol-based team. Specialising in the coffee shop sector, Cakesmiths have and continue to rapidly expand. Due to our continual growth, we are looking for a passionate and caring individual to become an integral part of our Finance team. Job Purpose Reporting to the Head of Finance, the Financial Accountant will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy and integrity of the financial statements, preparing internal and external reporting as well as playing a key role in the year-end audit. The FA will manage the accounts payable function in line with the companies working capital requirements and will line manage 2 junior members of the finance team. They will also be fundamental in ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of internal reporting and providing financial insights to the business to support decision making processes.   Accountabilities – or “What you have to do” Period End, Reporting & Analysis • Manage the accurate and timely preparation of the monthly trial balance. • Prepare the Holdco management accounts in line with a 5-day period close. • Prepare the group consolidated monthly management accounts in line with a 5-day period close. • Manage and review balance sheet reconciliations in line with a 5-day close. • Prepare monthly group reporting schedules, ensuring foreign exchange has been accurately reported. • Prepare and develop reports in Power BI, providing financial insight to internal and external stakeholders. Accounts Payable • Manage the accounts payable function, ensuring timeliness of supplier payments in line with the companies working capital requirements. • Ensure invoices and expenses are processed in line with the Company’s agreed delegations of authority. • Manage the upkeep of stock purchase prices and the Company’s internal product costing sheet, ensuring accurate valuation of stock. • Maintain accurate purchase price updates for stock within our accounting system.   Team Management & Other • Line management of 2 junior members of the finance team, outlining their objectives in line with those of the business. • Support all members of the finance team, including assisting with training when necessary and providing cover when on leave. • With the support of the HoF, manage the year-end audit process and preparation of statutory accounts. Responding to audit queries in a timely fashion and providing accurate documentation. • Manage the accounts inbox with support of the junior members of the finance team. Ensuring the team provide timely responses and maintain a good level of customer service. • Prepare and review monthly VAT returns. • Work collaboratively with other functions to maximise controls and process efficiencies across the business. • Deputise for the HoF when appropriate. • Other ad-hoc finance tasks when necessary. Qualifications and Experience Required Essential • Part Qualified Accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA) • Previous experience (3+ years) working within a finance role. • Strong core accounting skills. • IT literate, particularly comfortable with Microsoft applications, including Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. • Confident communicator, able to communicate financial information to non-finance professionals. • Good attention to detail. • Thrive in fast-paced roles. Desirable • Qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA). • Experience using data analytics tools/dashboards such as PowerBI. • Xero, Dext and/or Audit Trail experience. • Previous management experience.
