Job Description

VD Recruitment is recruiting an experienced Deputy Manager on behalf of a well-established group of independent Montessori nurseries based in the Wembley and Harrow areas. Our client is renowned for delivering high-quality Montessori education and is seeking a passionate and experienced professional to support the leadership and day-to-day management of their nursery setting.

Salary: £30,000 to £34,000 PA + Benefits

Location – Rayners Lane HA2

FULL TIME – 40 /week (Rotating early & late shifts between 8am to 6pm) or

4 full days / week – 8am to 6pm and a half day / week

You’ll need to be highly committed to providing children with the very best care and education. You’ll also have to be keen to progress and develop your own knowledge and skills and work as part of a team. The successful Deputy Nursery Manager will have strong knowledge of EYFS, an understanding of children’s development.

Your main duties as a Deputy Nursery Manager would be :

  • Working as part of a team to ensure the nursery runs smoothly and efficiently.
  • Becoming familiarised with the nursery's policies and procedures and supporting staff to follow these.
  • Leading a team, encouraging and raising practice daily.
  • Provide high quality care and activities for the children and to recognise both individual and group requirements in a secure, safe and stimulating environment.
  • Work in partnership with parents/carers, recognising that parents are their children’s first educators, and encourage parental involvement in the nursery.
  • Help Maintain the safety and security of all children, employees and visitors to the Nursery.
  • Help carry out regular assessments to ensure all nursery Health and Safety procedures are followed.
  • To contribute to staff performance management and appraisals.
  • Supporting the manager in daily running of the nursery and overseeing the smooth running of the nursery in the absence of the manager.
  • Staff delegation and deployment to ensure all rooms are working within the adult to child ratios.
  • Oversee display boards and the setting up of a stimulating, warm environment prepared for the children in accordance with the 7 areas of learning.
  • Mentoring and training Room Leaders.
  • Being involved in parent events.
  • Monitoring all daily and weekly checks are completed to a high standard.
  • To ensure professionalism and confidentiality at all times

Person Specification for the ideal Deputy Nursery Manager

  • Level 3 Diploma in Childcare & Education
  • 2 Years experience as a Third In Charge / Room Leader
  • The ability to deliver high-quality practice.
  • Strong knowledge of the EYFS and safeguarding procedures.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Being a positive role model to your team.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Good ICT skills
