Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Nursery Practitioner role based in Edinburgh. The Nursery Practitioner will support the care, learning, and development of children aged 0 to 5 years through age-appropriate activities and play. This role is for working in our Baby Room (0-2 years) or Toddler Room (2-3 years). Daily responsibilities include planning and delivering engaging learning experiences, observing and recording children’s progress, and ensuring a safe, clean, and welcoming environment. The role involves following nursery policies and regulatory requirements, working collaboratively with colleagues, and building positive relationships with children, families, and external partners. The Nursery Practitioner will also assist with mealtimes, personal care routines, and the set-up and tidy-up of resources and learning spaces. Qualifications • Relevant childcare qualification (e.g., SVQ, NVQ, or equivalent in Early Years or Childcare) and understanding of early years frameworks. • Experience working with children aged 0–5 in a nursery or similar setting, with strong skills in planning and delivering learning activities. • Ability to maintain a safe, inclusive environment, with good awareness of safeguarding, health and safety, and child wellbeing practices. • Strong communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues, children, and families. • Organisational and time management skills, with a flexible, patient, and caring approach to meeting the needs of individual children. • Basic IT skills for record-keeping and communication; first aid training and additional early years professional development are beneficial.
