Assistant Accountant
London Area, United Kingdom
£40,000.00/yr - £43,000.00/yr
Are you a part-qualified accountant who enjoys getting into the detail, taking ownership of reconciliations, and working in a fast-growing retail/e-commerce environment?
A high-growth premium fashion brand is looking for a US Junior Accountant to join its expanding finance team with a specific focus on ecommerce.
This is a business scaling quickly and growing 20% year on year, with the US being the largest growth area. As the team grows, they’re creating clearer ownership across management accounts, reconciliations and month-end - giving this person the chance to step into a broad role with real responsibility from the outset. You’ll be joining a business that wants ambitious, progression-oriented people who are keen to keep learning, studying and developing as the company evolves.
It’s a good opportunity for someone who already has solid grounding in month-end and reconciliations, but wants a role with more ownership, more exposure, and scope to grow over time.
What will you be doing?
• Owning online sales reconciliations, ensuring sales and accounts receivable are reported accurately.
• Supporting month-end close, including preparing prepayments, accruals and balance sheet reconciliations.
• Taking responsibility for purchase ledger reconciliations and supporting the AP team with queries and issue resolution.
• Investigating chargebacks, refunds, returns and other online sales-related accounting issues.
• Supporting commercial finance with budget vs actual analysis, variance investigation and commentary.
• Assisting with forecasting and budgeting support by providing accurate financial data and insight.
• Supporting finance-related workstreams through an ongoing ERP transition, including testing, validation and process improvement.
• Collaborating closely with the wider finance team to improve controls, reporting accuracy and month-end processes.
What would we love to see from you?
• Part-qualified ACCA/CIMA, actively studying towards qualification.
• Around 3+ years’ experience in a finance role.
• Experience in retail, fashion or e-commerce highly desirable.
• Good grounding in prepayments, accruals, reconciliations and month-end processes.
• Strong Excel skills, including XLOOKUP / VLOOKUP and PivotTables
• Someone ambitious, proactive and keen to grow in a fast-moving environment.
• Strong attention to detail, with the confidence to investigate issues and work things through properly.
